Last minute....as usual. - Saturday 6/8/2011

anyone is welcome to come, there is no cost except for the permit.

Meet: 8.45am , just as you come off the bridge on to the island, go through the round about, then in the middle of the road is a bg car park. Meet there. If you get to the second round about you have gone too far.
Look for my 75 series cruiser ute with canopy.

You need a permit, click here to get one online:
https://www.epa.qld.gov.au/parks/iaparks/gds/IAGDS010Init.do?PERMIT_TYPE=SERVICE

This is a 4wd club run, we have maybe 5 vehicles at the moment. No experience is needed. We will help.

We will drive up the inland tracks, then on to the beach, back down the beach to a lagoon for a bbq, stay there for a couple of hours and then drive back on the inland tracks, hopefully explore a few different tracks and creeks in behind the beach, as long as the tracks aren't closed.

BBQ sausage sizzle $1 each, tea and coffee etc

either just turn up, or send me a PM, i'll check them early in the morning.

cheers :cheers

Was a great day. Forecast said "shower or two" but it was perfect weather. Started at Whitepatch and headed north on the inland track, then on to the beach and up to the Searchlight bunker, tide was coming in so we took off south and found a few trees to sit under. I took all the BBQ gear and we had a sausage sizzle. We stayed there for about 2 or 3 hours, then went back via the inland track. We got out of the bush around 7pm.

The sand was very soft and the tide was in, so it was pretty slow going in the deep sand, beach and on the tracks. We didn't do any fishing, too busy sitting around :cheers

Thanks for the report Stevo and better still the pics.....looks like a great way to spend the day!!!!!

The beach looks beautiful!!!!

Just what I needed today as it's freezing here today( a balmy 11 degrees), cloudy windy & yuk....wish it would just pelt down so the farmers have another good year and so our water tanks all fill up as we are no longer on town water since moving onto 15acres out of town in Jan.....big lifestyle change but loving it. :cheers
