Next SE Qld Trip

Postby amanda » Tue Dec 09, 2008 8:47 am

Seeing as how we missed out on the November trip thanks to the storms, does anyone know if there are any trips planned for 2009 yet?

I have not seen or heard anything but I imagine there is probably a lot going on behind the scenes Amanda.

Time will tell....

For 2009, taking a different tact.

Considering the diversity of peoples camping backgrounds, tastes, desires, styles etc, the approach will be for people to post details of a trip they want to do and they would like open to other forum members.

What people need to do is post the following details;
= Date
= Location
= Venue and type
= Likely costs
= Websites showing details
= Intended audience
It will be up to individual members to make their bookings etc.

That way it is likley that we will cover more of peoples interests, like having a doggy weekend, no kids weekend, boys / girls weekend, 4wd weekend, fishing weekend etc. If its not your style then just don't go, or even better throw up something that is yours.

The issue is I ain't going to organise something too far outside of my own interests/style, like have a no kids weekend when I have two kids.

What Meeky put up is what I am intending. viewtopic.php?f=33&t=3157

I will provide the forum support, do a sticky etc, and perhaps put together a calender.

Perhaps we can look at something more combined later in the year, that is more formally organised.

Has anyone thought of a Chrissy get together for those on your immediate are that you could meet and greet over a picnic or a drink or both.

Maybe a bit late I know.

Troy, I like that idea.

I like the Christmas get together idea Derek, but as you said we might be a bit late to get one organised. I guess the only way to find out is to ask.

So is anyone interested in a BBQ/Picnic get together on either the 20th or 21st December? I'll take the bull by the horns and propose that if we do manage a get together we meet for lunch at Winders Park along the Currumbin Estuary - easy access off the M1 and 1 hour or less from Brisbane, safe swimming spot for the kids, ideal for kayaks, canoes, blow up boats etc.

Is anyone interested?

I would be interested in 21st for sure.

My brothers 60th birthday is on the Saturday night before.

*What* a darned good idea! :+

A girls weekend has a great deal of appeal but since we as yet don't have a tent, we'll file that one away for the future.

The Currumbin idea sounds great - driving on that M1 is not a favourite passtime so we'll pass on the invitation this time.

Happy camping
