Can anyone advise on the best camping spots (not camping parks) from Sydney to Cairns - away from the madding crowd and preferably with only basic facilities?

That's alot of camping spots Craig!!!! ::()

Booti Booti national park is a lovely spot. It's near Forster on the NSW North Coast. That's if you are going the coastal way???

If you can give us some idea of what route you are taking I'm sure you will have heaps of spots recommended but I think just saying Sydney to Cairns is a little broad.

To narrow it down was thinking of going up through Gundiwindi and then across to Mackay and then up the Qld coast.
After camping grounds along the way that are rough and ready - ie. no facilities and off road. Want to get back nature but experience the beauty of this great land.
