We’re just back from a weekend at Ballina Lakeside Tourist Park. The park is located on Shaw’s Bay and has about a dozen waterfront sites. Most of these sites are designed for caravans and have slabs, and we were actually booked onto one of them. When we arrived however we were told that there were 4 waterfront sites without slabs available if we would prefer them. When we drove to the sites we couldn’t believe our luck that the non slab sites had become available. The sites with slabs were quite small with neighbours tightly packed on either side. The non slab sites were much larger with plenty of space between you and the next person, which in our case was nobody as we were the only ones in that area. So for future reference if anyone is interested, the absolute pick of the sites are numbers 201, 202 and 203 as far as view goes, with 244 being a huge shady site that’s tucked a little out of the way, but still has a view. Interestingly, these sites were the only ones they allowed you to have pets on as well.
The park is definitely aimed at family groups and I imagine it would be absolutely jam packed at holiday times. There are two pools, a mini golf course, TV room, games room, jumping pillow, cinema room that shows movies each night, gym, internet kiosk and the largest, best equipped camp kitchen I’ve ever seen. The staff were very obliging and friendly and the park was beautifully maintained. All up we had a nice, relaxing weekend and were really happy with the site we ended up with, however if we had to be in the original site they had designated for us I don’t think our opinion would have been the same.
Once again I was VERY slack in the photo taking department, so I’m afraid this is all I have.
