Linville - Railway Park

Linville - Railway Park

Postby GypsyLady » Mon Sep 14, 2009 2:49 pm

I went camping out at Linville on the weekend. The little freebie campground is opposite the Linville Pub and has free power, toilets, BBQ and a children's playground. Showers are available at the pub for a small donation.

There is the historic Linville Railway Station to have a look at and photograph. The Brisbane Valley Rail Trail also runs through here.

The Pioneer burger is a must have at the pub if you are looking for a bite to eat and sunday roasts are on offer every second sunday.

This is a nice quiet little campground but unfortunately is not suitable for camping in the summer months as there is no shade.

Linville is situated 7 klms off the D'Aguilar Highway (turn right just before Moore) on the way to Blackbutt from Kilcoy.

Will post some pics when I download them.

From the northern side of Brissy I'd head up to Caboolture and the out to Kilcoy and Linville.

From western or southern suburbs....yes that is the way to go. From Ipswich itself it would be 1 1/2 hours.

I described this as a campground but it is more a camping area.

Even just the drive up through the Brisbane Valley make this a great place. That pub hasn't changed much over the years.

I was back at Linville camping on the weeekend. Caught up with friends who are now permanently travelling and Linville was a great little meeting point.

Unfortunately the kitchen is closed in the pub until further notice....very disappointed as we headed over there of friday evening to have a burger. It ended up being baked beans on toast....which is not too bad on such short notice and certainly fed the worms.

This is a great little freebie campground (pet friendly) for a weekender with free power, flush toilets, free BBQ and small playground. The historic station gives budding photographers some great scope and of course there are the rail trails to be enjoyed as well.

I always like to spend a dollar of three in appreciation in these little places that offer free camping but with the pub's ktichen closed it made it a bit difficult. We did however have the obligatory icecream from the Linville store on saturday.

Campfires are also allowed....BYO firewood.

Rosco......
I think this is a place you, Avis & Bailey might enjoy.

Bailies already got her 'kit' packed.......lol
Says its 125km from Strathpine and approx 1hr 53mins driving.....
We have been up through that area but not into Linville....Sorta place we enjoy thanks Gypsy and as its really an 'Over-niter', We would normally take the Camper-van,,,,saves putting up the tent for one nite...Plus, Its great being able to stop from time to time for a cuppa.......

Cheers

It's a bit dry at the moment and the grass a bit long around the edges which is actually a bonus; many of the birds are coming down to feed on the seed.

I will post some current pix later.
